Patna, Sep 1 (IANS) Janata Dal (U) national spokesperson KC Tyagi resigned from his post on Sunday. He said he was resigning due to “personal reasons”.
His resignation has been accepted by the top leadership of the party. Party’s national secretary Afaque Ahmed Khan, while informing about KC Tyagi’s resignation, announced that Rajiv Ranjan Prasad has been appointed as the new spokesperson. He said that this decision has been taken after the guidelines received from party president Nitish Kumar.
In the letter issued by JDU, it is said, “State Chief Minister and party president Nitish Kumar has appointed Rajiv Ranjan Prasad as the new national spokesperson of the party. Earlier this post was held by K.C. Tyagi, who resigned from this post due to personal reasons.”
Veteran leader KC Tyagi, who is considered very close to Nitish Kumar, has served in the party for a long time in various positions. He was often seen representing JDU on many news channels. His role was notable for clarifying the party’s stand on various issues of JDU.
However, it is being said that KC Tyagi had recently taken an independent stand on several issues, due to which the party had to face embarrassment.
Let us tell you, after the Supreme Court’s decision, Tyagi’s views on the SC-ST reservation issue and the Israel-Palestine conflict were different from the party’s official statement. His stance was similar to that of the leaders of the India Alliance. On several occasions, he had issued statements without consulting the party leadership or other senior leaders. Due to this, a situation of discontent had arisen within the party.
