मालदीव के विदेश मंत्री का दावा, बिना आईएमएफ की मदद हल हो सकती हैं देश की वित्तीय चुनौतियां

Colombo, Sep 15 (IANS) Maldives Foreign Minister Moosa Zameer has claimed that the financial problems the country is facing are temporary and there is no need to seek help from the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Maldivian state media reported.

Zameer is currently in Sri Lanka and is holding talks with banks and officials as part of extensive diplomatic and economic outreach, Xinhua news agency reported, citing state media PSM.

Zameer said on Saturday that the Maldives was facing a temporary problem related to declining reserves and that it could be resolved without external financial intervention.

The Foreign Minister said that the government’s strategy to resolve the current issues includes measures such as reforming the tax system, reducing costs of state-owned enterprises, strengthening bilateral relations with China and India.

Recent data from the Maldives government showed that usable reserves rose to US$61 million in August from US$45 million in July.
