Senior Trinamool Congress leader Abhishek Banerjee on Wednesday alleged that the Narendra Modi government is interested in gaining power and control without accountability by presenting a bill to remove the Prime Minister, Chief Minister or Minister arrested in serious allegations.
Banerjee made this comment at a time when the Central Government plans to introduce the three Constitution Amendment Bill in Parliament on Wednesday, under which the Prime Minister, Union Minister, Chief Minister or Minister of a state or union territory can be removed from the post in case of arrested or detained for 30 consecutive days in serious criminal charges.
