Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Tuesday that the day is not far when the smallest chips made in India will bring the biggest change in the world. He said that even though India has started late in the semiconductor sector, no one can stop the country.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony of India Seemicon 2025, the Prime Minister highlighted India’s growing role in the global semiconductor ecosystem.
He said, “The day is not far when the smallest chip made in India will bring the biggest change in the world. And it is also true that even though we have started late, no one can stop us now.”
He said that the representation of 40-50 countries in this program reflects the trust of the world in India’s innovation and youth power.
He said, “The world trusts India. The world believes in India. And the world is ready to make the future of semiconductor with India.”
Comparing between the 20th and 21st centuries, Prime Minister Modi emphasized that while coal and oil shaped the previous century, the real strength of the 21st century lies in the semiconductor.
He said, “At one time the fate of the world economy was determined by how much petroleum is extracted from oil wells. But today, the real strength of the world is reduced to a small chip. This chip may be small in size, but it has the power to speed up the progress of the whole world.”
The Prime Minister also said that the global semiconductor market has already reached $ 600 billion and it is expected to cross 1 trillion dollars in the coming years.
He said, “Due to this growth, investors are rapidly turning to India. Now India is not limited to back-end. The country is fast moving towards becoming a full-design semiconductor nation.”
Prime Minister Modi reiterated that India’s progress in this region is invincible. He further stated that India is already working on the second phase of its semiconductor mission and our policy is based on long -term commitment, not on short -term benefits. He said, “Design in India and built in India, this will be the hallmark of the future.”
