The politics of Chhattisgarh has once again become heated. Durg Police interrogated the son and daughter of former Chief Minister and senior Congress leader Bhupesh Baghel at the police station. There was a fatal attack on Professor Vinod Sharma of a government college in Durg district of Chhattisgarh. The matter is of July this year. Six youths had beaten the professor severely with sticks and ran away leaving him dead. On the information of local people, the professor was admitted to the hospital. The professor was beaten badly by six people. Sharma was attacked when he was going to his home from Old Bhilai police station area. Sharma is still admitted in the hospital and is undergoing treatment.
Why are Baghel’s son and daughter being interrogated?
Police started investigation into the professor’s beating case. Investigation has revealed the involvement of nine accused in this case. Police have arrested five of them and are searching for four others. The police has also announced a reward for the arrest of the absconding accused. It is being told that the mastermind of this case is a Municipal Corporation contractor who is considered close to Chaitanya. CSP Harish Patil told that the accused used to be close to Chaitanya and was seen in every function even at home.
Patil said that Chaitanya’s involvement in the case, his role in the escape of the accused and his mobile phone were seized for technical investigation. His statement has been taken primarily. The seized mobile will be sent to FSL for investigation. Giving information about the case, Patil said that questions have been asked about the accused regarding their relations. So far we have arrested five accused in this case. The main three accused are still absconding. Chaitanya was called on the basis of interrogation of the accused. Accused Praveen Sharma was close to Chaitanya.
Meanwhile, Bhupesh Baghel has written a letter to Supreme Court Chief Justice (CJI) DY Chandrachud. He has demanded from the CJI to order a high-level judicial inquiry into the functioning of the central and state investigating agencies in the state. He has also complained in a letter to the Chief Justice that a conspiracy is being hatched against him to link him to various crimes in the state. Baghel has also said in this letter written on September 21 that he performed his duties as Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh with complete honesty, devotion and dignity.
