Odisha news: An extremely heartbreaking incident has come to light from Baibar area of Nimapada tehsil of Puri district of Odisha, where a 16 -year -old schoolgirl was burnt alive by three unidentified youths. This horrific incident took place around 8:30 am on Saturday morning when the teenager was going to give books to her friend.
Attack on the deserted path of Bhargvi river
According to eyewitnesses, as soon as the girl passed through a deserted path on the banks of the Bhargvi river, the three youths stopped her, picked up and set her on fire. The attackers escaped from the spot immediately after the incident. Local people ran and somehow extinguished the fire after hearing the flames and screams of the victim.
Severely scorched victim, Rajdhani Hospital referred
The girl was first taken to the Community Health Center (CHC) of Pipili, but was immediately referred to the Capital Hospital in Bhubaneswar in view of the seriousness of burning. The state government has now decided to get him admitted to AIIMS Bhubaneswar where he is undergoing treatment. His hands, legs and torso have been badly scorched and the condition remains critical.
The statement of the victim’s family: there was no enmity
The victim’s family has clearly denied any kind of personal enmity, love affair or a sense of revenge. According to him, the girl was calm in nature and was engaged in studies. “We don’t know that he had a dispute with anyone. We are completely shocked,” a family told the media.
The incident took place just 1.5 km from Balanga police station
The shocking thing is that the incident took place just 1.5 km from Balanga police station, yet the police could not reach the spot on time. This is raising questions on police patrolling and regional security system.
Deputy Chief Minister’s statement: The culprits will not be spared
The echo of the incident also reached the state government. Odisha Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida has given a strong condemnation of this gruesome crime and ordered immediate arrest. He said that the culprits will be punished severely for this heinous act.
Parida also announced that the state government will bear the entire cost of treatment of the victim and soon she will go to AIIMS and meet the victim and get information about her health.
Memories of Balasore incident fresh again
This painful incident took place at a time when Odisha has not forgotten the incident of self -immolation of Balasore’s ‘Fakir Mohan College’ student. On July 12, the student set herself on fire outside the college principal’s room.
Troubled by persistent harassment and mental torture, he took this step. She was also admitted to AIIMS Bhubaneswar, but died during treatment.
What is happening in Odisha?
These incidents that have come out continuously have raised serious questions on the women’s security system of the state. The students, who are expected to be the future, are feeling the most insecure today.
Whether it is school, college, home or road – there is a threat to girls’ identity everywhere. One after the other, such incidents suggest that now nothing will happen only by sympathy or announcements, stringent and concrete steps at the ground level.
Will the police and administration wake up?
Till the criminals get quick justice, examples of punishment and social boycott, the criminals will be strong and innocent daughters will continue to burn. The government will have to pay the cost of justice and security instead of just taking the cost of treatment.
Odisha News: This is not just an incident, a question – can we give a safe future to our daughters? Or every scream will continue to be made only, every heat will not only burn the soul of society?
