The Gujarat Congress on Monday claimed that the principal of a school arrested for allegedly murdering a six-year-old girl student in Dahod district was close to the BJP and the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh. The girl’s body was found in the school premises in Torani village of Singwad taluka on Thursday, leading to the probe into the case focusing on principal Govind Nat.

According to the police, the principal, Govind Nat, was taking the girl to school in his car and strangled her to death when she resisted his attempt to sexually assault her. He was taken into custody on Sunday, they said.

Gujarat Congress spokesperson Parthivraj Kathwadia shared some photos in which the accused can allegedly be seen sitting with former state minister Arjun Singh Chauhan and attending an event in RSS attire. He said, ‘Govind Nat is a political person. In the photos available on social media, Nat can be seen with BJP leaders and also in the programs of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh and Vishwa Hindu Parishad.’
Kathwadia said in a statement, “It is clear from such cases that our daughters are not safe under the BJP rule in Gujarat. These incidents are a stigma for the education sector and parents are worried.” Reacting to the allegations, Gujarat Education Minister Kuber Dindor said that his department is working closely with the police to solve the crime as soon as possible.
Kuber said, “We worked in collaboration with the police. This is a shameful act by a principal. Thanks to our efforts, the police managed to catch him within 24 hours and put him behind bars. We have already suspended him and our government will ensure that the case is tried in a ‘fast track court’ for speedy justice.”
