Uttarakhand News: Dhami government alert on monsoon preparations in Uttarakhand, there will be special monitoring of sensitive areas. Chief Minister Shri Pushkar Singh Dhami, while reviewing the preparations for the monsoon season in the Secretariat, directed the officials that all necessary arrangements should be completed before the onset of monsoon. He said that all departments should work in a coordinated manner to strengthen disaster management, public facilities, health services and infrastructure and should be fully prepared to deal with any emergency.

The Chief Minister directed that after the monsoon, all the roads of the state should be made pothole free by November 15, 2026. He said that the remaining works in the disaster affected areas last year should be completed before the onset of monsoon. Necessary repair works should be completed in a timely manner by checking bridges, culverts and drainage systems and cleaning of all drains and drainage routes should be ensured before monsoon. The Chief Minister directed to prepare an effective action plan for the prevention of dengue, malaria and other water-borne diseases.

He said that the health department should ensure adequate availability of life-saving medicines, medical equipment and ambulances. He instructed all the District Magistrates to get the updated list of pregnant women in the districts from the Chief Medical Officers and keep it updated regularly. For pregnant women living in sensitive and inaccessible areas, arrangements should be made to stay near nearby hospitals and if necessary, heli ambulance facility should also be made available.

The Chief Minister directed that an updated map of landslide-prone sites, flood-prone areas, river banks and land erosion areas should be prepared in all the districts. Besides, a list of villages, schools, hospitals and other important assets which are vulnerable to disaster should also be prepared. Giving instructions to conduct special inspection of sensitive places on national and state highways including the Chardham Yatra route, the Chief Minister said that physical inspection of sensitive areas should be done. JCB, Pokeland, dumper, crane and other necessary machinery should already be deployed at sensitive places. Where roads are repeatedly blocked during monsoon, arrangements for alternative routes should also be ensured. All effective secretaries will visit their respective districts and inspect the preparations made in the districts in view of monsoon.

The Chief Minister said that warning signs and information boards should be installed in flood prone areas and adequate storage of relief and rescue material should be ensured in every tehsil. 24×7 coordination should be established between the Indian Meteorological Department, State Emergency Operation Center and district control rooms. Effective arrangements should be made to quickly send weather related alerts to the village level and timely weather related information should be made available to tourists and travelers. While giving instructions to remove encroachments before monsoon, the Chief Minister said that this work should be done on priority basis to maintain smooth drainage and traffic system.

The Chief Minister said that electricity, drinking water, roads, telecommunication and other basic services should not be affected for a long time during the rainy season. For this, all concerned departments should prepare a detailed action plan. Safety audit of power lines around STPs and bridges should also be conducted.

As per the instructions given by the Chief Minister to solve the problem of traffic jam arising due to increasing number of devotees in Kainchidham, Kainchidham bypass is being opened for traffic from tomorrow. This will provide great relief to the devotees and local people in traffic. The Chief Minister directed the officials to work with full commitment to minimize the loss of life and property through vigilance, prompt action and effective coordination during the monsoon period.

Chief Minister Shri Pushkar Singh Dhami has expressed happiness over the international appreciation received by Uttarakhand’s disaster management model in the meeting of BRICS Disaster Risk Reduction Working Group. Congratulating Uttarakhand State Disaster Management Authority, SDRF, ULMMC and all agencies related to disaster management, he said that this achievement is the result of coordinated efforts of the state, technology based methodology and continuous innovations being made in the field of disaster management.

On this occasion, Secretary Disaster Management Shri Vinod Kumar Suman gave a detailed presentation of all the preparations made in view of the monsoon season.

In the meeting, Cabinet Minister Disaster Management and Rehabilitation Minister Shri Madan Kaushik, Vice President State Disaster Management Shri Vinay Kumar Rohila, Chief Secretary Shri Anand Bardhan, DGP Shri Deepam Seth, Principal Secretary Shri L. Fanai, Dr. R. Meenakshi Sundaram, Secretary Shri Nitesh Kumar Jha, Dr. Pankaj Kumar Pandey, Shri Ravinath Raman, Shri Dhiraj Garbyal, Shri Ranveer Singh Chauhan, Shri C. Ravi Shankar, senior police officers, heads of departments of various departments, Kumaon Commissioner Shri Deepak Rawat, Garhwal Commissioner Shri Anand Swaroop and all District Magistrates were present through virtual medium.
