Threat of bulldozer action on houses rented to 2 accused in Vadodara rape case, notice issued

There is a threat of bulldozer action on the houses given on rent to two of the five accused in the Vadodara rape case. The municipal body says that these houses were built illegally.

Five people have been arrested for gang rape of a 16 year old minor in Vadodara. The house given on rent to two of these main accused is under threat of bulldozer action. The Municipal Corporation said on Wednesday that these houses were built illegally. The Municipal Corporation has now issued notices to their owners. The landlord has been given 3 days to respond with evidence.

Let us tell you that the three main accused in the case (Munna Vanzara, Mumtaz Vanzara and Shahrukh Vanzara) were arrested on October 7. Two other accused (Ajmal Sattar and Saif Ali) were arrested on Tuesday. On Tuesday, a local court had sent everyone to police custody till October 10.

It was revealed that the accused worked as labourers. He is originally from UP. He had settled in Gujarat more than ten years ago. Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) Deputy Town Development Officer (TDO) Dinesh Deomurari said that among them, Munna Vanzara and Mumtaz Vanzara live in Ekta Nagar area of ​​the city.

Dinesh Devmurari said that investigation has found that the houses where these two accused are living are completely illegal. These houses were built by their owners without permission from the authorities. We have pasted show cause notices on their houses on Tuesday. These landlords have been given three days’ time to provide clarification with necessary evidence.

The officer said that after studying the replies given by the two house owners who had given their houses on rent to the accused, a decision would be taken on their demolition i.e. demolition through bulldozers. The show cause notice states that the house has been built without permission. Such illegal construction cannot be regularized by the Municipal Corporation.

The notice states why the illegal construction should not be demolished? Landlords will have to respond personally or through their representative explaining the reasons within three days. If they fail to do so, the illegal construction will be demolished. Not only this, the cost of demolishing the houses will also be recovered from them.

Let us tell you that last Friday, three main accused had raped a minor girl. According to the police, five accused on two motorcycles had approached the girl and her friend. Two of the accused, Ajmal Sattar and Saif Ali, left the spot, while the other three raped the girl and also snatched her mobile phone.

Large scale uproar was seen in the state regarding this incident. Questions were raised over the safety of people, especially women, going out during the night especially for Navratri. It is said that the accused had stopped the girl’s friend in a deserted area on the outskirts of the city. The incident took place at a time when a large number of people come out of their homes to participate in ‘Garba’ events.
