Vice Chancellor of Chaudhary Charan Singh Agricultural University, Hisar, Haryana, BR Kamboj has been accused of violating the election code of conduct. He had climbed on the BJP stage during a program organized at Bishnoi temple in Hisar on Janmashtami. The code of conduct for assembly elections had already been implemented then. The Election Commission has taken cognizance of the matter. The Returning Officer of Hisar Assembly constituency has found the Vice Chancellor guilty of violating the code of conduct in his report. The report has been submitted to the Election Commission.
The report of the Returning Officer of Hisar Assembly constituency said that Vice Chancellor BR Kamboj had attended a religious program organized by Bishnoi Sabha at Bishnoi temple on August 26. Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, Health Minister Dr. Kamal Gupta, former MP Kuldeep Bishnoi and other BJP leaders attended the program. Vice Chancellor Kamboj was sitting in the front row of the stage and his photos and videos went viral on social media. The Election Commission had taken cognizance of this.
The Vice Chancellor said- I am a person of religious nature
Professor Baldev Raj Kamboj has responded to the notice sent by the Returning Officer. He said that he is a religious person and keeps participating in religious events. He told that he was invited by prominent people on Janmashtami. He has denied participating in any political event. However, the Returning Officer is not satisfied with the reply of Vice Chancellor Kamboj.
Prof. Kamboj is a winner of MS Swaminathan Award
Prof. BR Kamboj, Vice Chancellor of Chaudhary Charan Singh Haryana Agricultural University, Hisar has been awarded the prestigious MS Swaminathan Award. He was honored with this award by Karnataka Governor Thawarchand Gehlot at an international conference held in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh. This honor was given as a result of his outstanding achievements in education, research, technology development and extension in the field of agricultural science.
When is action taken against government employees
As soon as the date of elections is announced, the Election Commission of India implements the Model Code of Conduct. It remains in force until the election results are declared. The rules of the code of conduct apply not only to political parties or leaders but also to government employees. After the code of conduct is implemented, government employees also become employees of the Election Commission until the election process is completed.
Government employees cannot become a part of the election process of any political party or leader in any way, directly or indirectly. Any employee who is employed in government services cannot become the election agent of any party or candidate. If any employee is found doing so, then legal action is taken against him for violating the election code of conduct.
