Before the Indian Premier League 2022, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) conducted the Yo-Yo test of the players. According to the ESPN Cricinfo report, Mumbai captain and Delhi Capitals batsman Prithvi Shaw failed the yo-yo test. At the same time, Gujarat Titans captain and all-rounder Hardik Pandya has passed.
The BCCI’s prescribed minimum score for men in the Yo-Yo test is considered to be 16.5. It turns out that Shaw scored less than 15. Prithvi Shaw was in a camp at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru. Delhi Capitals had retained Prithvi Shaw for Rs 7.5 crore before the IPL 2022 Mega Auction.
After failing the test in Yo-Yo test, Prithvi Shaw started trending on social media. Some people trolled him. Some people shared the news of him failing the Yo-Yo test. After this, Prithvi Shaw replied to the people by sharing a post on Instagram Story. He wrote, ‘You don’t know my position. So please don’t judge me. You keep doing your work.’
Let us tell you that all the players included in the BCCI’s central contract list are required to pass the yo-yo test to play in the IPL. The good thing for Prithvi Shaw is that he will be able to play IPL even after failing in the Test, as he is not in the contract list of BCCI.
Quoting a BCCI source, the Indian Express wrote, ‘These are just fitness updates. obviously, it Prithvi Shaw Doesn’t stop him from playing for Delhi Capitals in IPL. It is just a fitness parameter and not the end of everything. Look, he has played three consecutive Ranji matches. Once you play three first-class matches, his fatigue can affect your yo-yo score as well.
Prithvi Shaw has not been the fittest among Indian players in recent times. This is probably one of the reasons why he has not been included in any of the current senior teams. As a substitute for him, the team management, in the white ball format, Mayank Agarwal Liked to be in the team. Now it will be interesting to see how this test affects his game.
