Former India captain Virat Kohli has been going through a bad phase in his career for a long time. There was a time when he used to hit the field, score a century, break records and create history. However, since November 2019, he has been yearning for a century. After failing to spot the flaw in his technique, many veterans and experts have blamed his poor form on his luck. However, former Pakistan cricketer and former England coach Mushtaq Ahmed sees a flaw in Virat Kohli’s technique.
Mushtaq Ahmed recently claimed that he had advised Virat Kohli about his batting during India’s tour of England. He also says that Kohli has also implemented his advice on his batting. However, Mushtaq Ahmed also revealed that he had a meeting with the England team before India’s tour of England. Then he also gave the gurumantra to the England team to stop Kohli from scoring runs.
Speaking on ARY News’ show Bouncer, the former spinner claimed that he interacted with Kohli when he was in the gym recently during the series against England. Advised him to work on his front foot movement.
Mushtaq Ahmed revealed, ‘Once Virat was training in the gym. He himself came to me and asked how everything was going. After a brief conversation I told him a few things. He is very smart and a good listener.
Mushtaq said, ‘So I told Virat that when you score the first 10-15 runs, then your front foot falls straight on the pitch. When you try to hit the ball, your bat is not in the direction of the ball. For this reason, the outer edge of the bat gets hit even on a flat / flat wicket.
Mushtaq also said that the Indian batsman heeded his advice. Mushtaq Ahmed said, ‘I noticed that following my advice, Virat Kohli started shuffling the middle of the pitch, so that the ball comes in the middle of the bat and does not hit the outside edge.’
Mushtaq further said, ‘However, as you know a batsman does this when the ball is swinging, but in such a situation the batsman does not know where his off-stump is.’
