The performance of Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in IPL 2022 has not been good. The Mahendra Singh-led team was thrashed by Gujarat Titans by 7 wickets on Sunday, losing 4 out of 13 matches and are at the 9th position in the points table. She is out of the race for the playoffs. Now it remains to be seen whether MS Dhoni will be seen playing and captaining even further?
The former Team India captain led Chennai to their fourth IPL title last year, but left the captaincy before the start of the current season. He handed over the captaincy to Ravindra Jadeja, but the all-rounder relinquished the captaincy to focus on his game. Dhoni again took over the captaincy.
Dhoni had left the captaincy of Team India’s ODI and T20 in 2017 and said goodbye to international cricket in the year 2020. Even after this, he remains the backbone of Chennai in the IPL, but no one knows about his future plans. His availability for the next season is a matter of debate and veteran Sunil Gavaskar has reacted to it. He said that it is certain that Dhoni will be associated with Chennai. Now it remains to be seen whether he stays connected as a player or as a mentor.
After the match between Chennai and Gujarat, Gavaskar told Star Sports, “I think he (Dhoni) said, ‘You will definitely see me in yellow’. Now whether it will be player uniform or any other yellow, it remains to be seen. I believe that he will be associated with the team as a mentor. Had he not been willing to be associated with the team, he would not have taken back the captaincy. ,
Gavaskar continued, “Sometimes you learn more from failures than from success. Maybe before Jadeja’s unfortunate injury at that time, Dhoni would have given him a few matches to gain experience. I am sure he will definitely be seen in Yellow. There is no question about it.”
