It is likely that the India opener and vice-captain will get treatment in Germany. 30-year-old KL Rahul has repeatedly suffered from groin injuries. This is the reason why he will not travel to England. The Indian cricket team has to play seven matches on the England tour.
The news of Cricbuzz states that the BCCI has confirmed to him to send KL Rahul abroad for treatment. The website quoted BCCI secretary Jay Shah as saying, “That’s right, the board is working on his fitness. He will soon go to Germany. KL Rahul is likely to visit Germany by the end of this month or early July. Being treated overseas clearly means that KL Rahul will miss the tour of England.
In England, the Indian cricket team has to play one Test (from 1 to 5 July) and 6 white ball matches i.e. 3 T20 Internationals and as many ODIs. The command of the team for the England tour has been handed over to Rohit Sharma. KL Rahul was made the vice-captain. However, now in his absence, the Indian selectors will have to consider some other name for the post of vice-captain.
Lucknow Super Giants captain KL Rahul has played 43 Tests, 42 ODIs and 56 T20 Internationals so far in Karnataka and Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022. However, he has not played a single international match since February this year. The good thing is that he survived the injury in IPL 2022.
