Team India scored 364 for 7 in the second innings by the end of the third day’s play of the four-day warm-up match against Leicestershire. With this, the team took a lead of 366 runs. Former captain Virat Kohli scored a half-century. During this innings, he hit 5 fours and 2 sixes. He was dismissed by Jasprit Bumrah.
Apart from this, Shreyas Iyer made 62 and Ravindra Jadeja scored 56 runs. Both the batsmen came to bat twice. Jadeja is currently at the crease after scoring 56 runs. Iyer was dismissed for 62 by Kamlesh Nagarkoti. Apart from this, Sreekar Bharat scored 43 and Shubman Gill scored 38 runs.
Hanuma Vihari scored 20, Shardul Thakur scored 28 and Cheteshwar Pujara scored 22 runs. While Kohli came to bat at number seven, Pujara was at number eight. After batting for Leicestershire in the first innings, everyone was shocked to see Pujara walk out to bat for India. The reason Pujara bats for both teams is that the practice match between India and Leicestershire is not an official first-class match and the playing conditions are mutually agreed upon between the two teams.
That is why Jadeja and Iyer also came out to bat twice. Pujara did not get a chance to spend time at the crease after being dismissed for zero in Leicestershire’s first innings. So the Indian management decided to give him a chance to spend time in between. However, Team India’s captain Rohit Sharma has not come out to bat in the second innings so far.
He has to open with Shubman Gill in the fifth Test against England. In such a situation, many types of questions are being raised due to his not coming to bat. However, no statement has come out from the BCCI or Team India regarding this. Team India has to play the postponed Test match against England from July 1 last year. The visiting team is ahead 2-1 in the series.
