Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chief Rameez Raja had presented a plan to organize a T20 Super Series between four countries India, Pakistan, Australia and England. Cricket Australia (CA) has agreed to this plan with a few changes. CA Chief Nick Hawkley has agreed to organize a tri-series between India, Pakistan and Australia.
Ahead of the second Test against Pakistan in Karachi, Hockley said that Australia is ready to host a tri-series with India and Pakistan. Personally, I really like the concept of tri-series. It has been successfully organized in the last few years as well. We are ready to organize it.
He further said that Australia has a large number of cricket lovers from both India and Pakistan. It will be a match that everyone across the world would like to see. If we get a chance in the coming time, then we are ready to organize it happily. It is worth noting that the PCB Chief Ramiz had introduced this scheme in January this year.
Raja had said that, I offer a new limited company to the ICC which will be for the four-nation super series and will have a separate CEO. There should also be a new structure for its income. Its earnings will be distributed by the ICC to the four boards. For this we will need to create an ftp window.
No bilateral series has been played between India and Pakistan since 2012-13. Both the teams have definitely clashed in ICC tournaments and in Asia Cup. After the 26/11 Mumbai attacks in 2008, there was a rift between the two countries. Earlier, almost every year India and Pakistan used to tour one by one. After this, Pakistan toured India only once in 2012, but after this attack and the attack on the Sri Lankan team, the Indian team never went to Pakistan.
Keeping in mind the upcoming events of the ICC and the schedule of the teams, this series is likely to be held till 2023. In this year’s T20 World Cup, on 23 October, the high-voltage match between India and Pakistan will be seen at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. Apart from this, both the teams will also face each other in the Asia Cup.
