Anubhav sachean: India’s young player Anubhav Sachan has created history with the team of University of Warwick. He has become the first Indian player to win the title with Warwick’s B3 team at the United Kingdom University Polo Championship (SUPA). This achievement has also been recorded in the 2025 edition of the UK’s prestigious Polo Times Magazine.
To the prestigious polo plains of Britain
Kanpur -born Anubhav Sachan’s association with horses began not from any luxurious polo ground, but from Lucknow Racecourse, where he first learned horse riding. This initial attachment brought him to the prestigious polo plains of Britain. He received his education from ‘The Scindia School’, where he was the Deputy Head Boy, Secretary of the Debating Society and a member of the football team. He is currently a student of Philosophy, Politics and Economics at the University of Warwick and conducts student-dialogue dialogues on politics, policy-making and global subjects as the President of Warwick Congress.
Warvik polo club joined
His entry into the polo world was also unique. When he joined Warwick Polo Club, he had no experience of polo. It was not easy to balance between the pressure of studies and difficult training, but continuous practice and dedication brought them success. In the 2025 Supa Nationals, his team defeated strong teams like Darham, Oxford and Nottingham.
New direction to horse riding and polo in India
Anubhav says that Polo is not only a game for him, but a school of patience, teamwork and leadership. He says, “It has been a matter of me to always learn and become better than winning. Connecting with the horse, coordination with the team and discipline of the game teaches you patience and confidence”. His dream is that horse riding and polo should get new directions in India and more and more youth can join it and make their mark at the international level.
