For Chennai Super Kings (CSK) captain MS Dhoni, the fitness of two important players of the team is a matter of concern at this time. Both the players suffered injuries during the last series against West Indies. Suspense still remains on the fitness of both. In this regard, the CEO of the franchise, Kashi Vishwanathan has given a statement on Sunday.
He has said that, the team management is still waiting for updates on the fitness of its key players Rituraj Gaikwad and Deepak Chahar. During the series against West Indies last month, Rituraj suffered a hand injury while Chahar suffered a hamstring tear. After this it was being said that Chahar would be out of the team for at least 6 or 8 weeks.
After this there was speculation that Deepak Chahar might not play in the initial phase of IPL. Chahar was bought by CSK in the mega auction of IPL 2022 for a whopping price of 14 crores. While Gaikwad was retained by the franchise for Rs 8 crore along with Dhoni, Jadeja and Moeen Ali. In such a situation, these two players remain a matter of concern not only for the captain but for the entire management.
Let us tell you that the available players of CSK have gathered in Surat and are participating in the camp at Lalabhai Contractor Stadium. Many matches of the Indian women’s team have been organized here. While Chahar and Gaikwad are undergoing rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru.
On the availability of Rituraj and Chahar, CSK CEO Viswanathan said, “We are not aware of their current fitness status and will not be able to tell you when they will join the team. Of course BCCI has told us that they will inform us once these two are fit to play. Both the players are currently in NCA.
