The Indian Premier League (IPL) has helped provide a perfect platform for youngsters and uncapped (who may not have played for the Indian team yet) players to showcase their talent in front of some of the top international stars. The 2022 IPL has seen a lot of young talent. Cricket experts have already supported the inclusion of some of them in the Indian team. He has now also got the support of Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) President Sourav Ganguly. Ganguly in particular has been very impressed with the two uncapped Indian fast bowlers.
While talking to Mid Day, Sourav Ganguly talked about Sunrisers Hyderabad pacer Umran Malik. Umran Malik has been the center of discussion in IPL 2022 due to his fast pace and wicket-taking ability. He took 18 wickets in 12 matches this season at an average of 22.05. Umran also took five wickets in a match. He is now the highest wicket-taker among uncapped players this season.
Sourav Ganguly also mentioned Rajasthan Royals bowler Kuldeep Sen in his list. Kuldeep Sen has taken eight wickets in 7 matches this season. He has been quite impressive especially in the death overs. Ganguly said, ‘How many bowlers can bowl at a speed of 150 km? Not much. I wouldn’t be surprised if he is selected for the national team.
Sourav Ganguly also cautioned, ‘However, we have to be careful in using it. Umran is the fastest. I also like Kuldeep Sen. Also T Natarajan has made a comeback. We will have Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami. However, it all depends on the selectors.
Former captain of Indian cricket team Sourav Ganguly also talked about the dominance of the bowlers this season. Ganguly said, ‘I am very happy to see the dominance of the bowlers. The wickets in Mumbai and Pune are very good and they are taking good bounce. Apart from the fast bowlers, the spinners are also bowling well.
