Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Secretary Jay Shah will continue as the President of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) till 2024. On Saturday, March 19, 2022, his term was extended for one year (till 2024). The decision was taken unanimously at the Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the ACC held in Colombo. The ACC announced after the AGM that Sri Lanka would host the Asia Cup T20 tournament from 27 August to 11 September.
India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka will take part in all five Test teams from across the continent in the Asia Cup. There will be another Asian team in it, whose decision will be taken after the qualifier tournament to be held from August 20. ACC tweeted after its AGM, ‘Asia Cup 2022 (T20 Format) will be held in Sri Lanka from 27 August to 11 September this year. The qualifiers for this will be played from August 20, 2022.
Teams from the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Kuwait, Singapore and Hong Kong will take part in the qualifiers. The last leg of the tournament was played in 2018. India was the champion in it. The 2020 phase had to be postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Sri Lanka was to host the 2020 leg, but was earlier postponed to 2021 due to the Corona pandemic. After this it was decided to get it done in 2022. Pakistan first 2022 Asia Cup It was to host the 2023 stage.

Jay Shah said, “We are committed to ensure all-round development of cricket in the region, especially with the advancement of women’s cricket, with our focus on the many grassroots tournaments organized by the ACC throughout the year in the region. “Hopefully we’ve left the pandemic behind and I’m looking forward to helping ACC grow stronger from here,” he said. Shah’s tenure extension was proposed by Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) President Shammi Silva. All members of the ACC unanimously supported his nomination.
Amit Shah’s son Jay Shah took over the reins of the ACC from Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) President Nazmul Hasan in January 2021. He became the youngest administrator to be appointed as the ACC President.
