Indian women’s cricket team captain Mithali Raj and star opener Smriti Mandhana have slipped two places to the fourth and tenth positions respectively in the latest ICC Women’s ODI Player Rankings released on Tuesday. Also, despite the first Test draw of Pakistan and Australia in men’s cricket, the Kangaroo team continues to top the points table of the World Test Championship.
Let us tell you that Mithali Raj could score only 9 runs against Pakistan in the first match of Women’s World Cup while Smriti Mandhana scored 52 runs in 75 balls. Apart from these two, India’s Sneh Rana (53 not out) and Pooja Vastrakar (67 runs) scored half-centuries. In this first match, India won by 107 runs over Pakistan.
Pooja Vastrakar is ranked 64th with a scintillating half-century while Rana is not in the top 100. Among bowlers, Jhulan Goswami remains at the fourth position while all-rounder Deepti Sharma is at the sixth position in the all-rounders’ rankings. The rankings have fluctuated a lot after the first five matches of the World Cup. Australia’s Meg Lanning has moved up two places to second in the rankings for batsmen. She is only 15 ratings points behind top-ranked compatriot Alyssa Healy.
West Indies’ Haley Mathews has also come up in the rankings of batsmen, bowlers and all-rounders. He is ranked fourth in the top five in the all-rounders’ rankings. He has climbed 12 places to 20th in the rankings for batsmen and has climbed three places to 10th among bowlers. Australia’s Jess Jonasson is also at the top in the bowlers’ rankings.
If we talk about the Men’s World Test Championship (WTC) points table, Sri Lanka had slipped from the first place to the third place after losing to India in the Mohali Test. At the same time, India’s winning percentage became 54.16 but still it was in fifth place. The first Test of the series played between Pakistan and Australia on Tuesday ended in a draw. After which the positions of both the teams were not affected.
The Australian team is still on top. Australia’s winning percentage has dropped to 77.77 after the Rawalpindi Test was drawn. The second-ranked Pakistan and Sri Lanka have a winning rate of 66.66 percent. South Africa ranked fourth with 60 percent and India is fifth with a winning percentage of 54.16.
