Mumbai batsman Sarfaraz Khan created history by scoring a brilliant century against Madhya Pradesh in the final of the Ranji Trophy 2022. He became the third batsman to score more than 900 runs in two Ranji seasons. The right-handed batsman has done so in two consecutive seasons. The 24-year-old cricketer became even more emotional as he celebrated the century and had tears in his eyes. He also gave a Thai-five in Shikhar Dhawan’s style.
This was Sarfaraz’s fourth century this season and he has so far scored 8 centuries in first-class cricket. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) shared Sarfaraz’s century of celebration on Twitter. Sarfaraz started the day with 40 runs and completed his half-century off 152 balls. Mumbai’s wickets kept falling at the other end. He started scoring runs after completing his half-century.
Sarfaraz scored the next 50 runs in just 38 balls, helping Mumbai cross the 300-run mark. Sarfaraz was eventually dismissed for 134. Mumbai’s first innings ended on 374 runs. Team captain Prithvi Shaw won the toss and decided to bat first. Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shaw shared an 87-run partnership before the captain was dismissed for 47.
Despite the wicket falling at the other end, Jaiswal scored 78 runs. Sarfaraz dominated the second day. For Madhya Pradesh, fast bowler Gaurav Yadav took four wickets. Sarfaraz is consistently scoring runs in first class cricket. After this he is not getting selected in Team India. In IPL, he gets a chance to play very few matches.

Sarfaraz has scored four centuries and two half-centuries in eight innings so far. He scored 275 runs in 401 balls against Saurashtra. He had earlier scored 928 runs in the year 2019-20.
