Wriddhiman Saha got a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) on Saturday. The State Cricket Board gave this information in a statement. He said, “Wriddhiman Saha approached the CAB and sought NOC from the association in an application to President Avishek Dalmiya. The CAB acceded to Saha’s request and granted him NOC to play for another state.” The CAB also wished him all the best for his future.
The 37-year-old wicket-keeper batsman Wriddhiman Saha had a tussle with Bengal Cricket following a tussle with a CAB official and made up his mind to break up with him. He wants to play for some other state in the next domestic season. Sources said the veteran wicketkeeper-batsman is in talks with some state associations, including Tripura and Gujarat.
In February last, Saha made himself unavailable for the group stage of the Ranji Trophy. This happened when he was dropped by the national selection committee for the two-Test home series against Sri Lanka even after playing a fine innings against New Zealand. Saha was selected in the Bengal squad for the 2022 Ranji Trophy knockout stage but refused to play and sought NOC.
Saha had said about this, “An incident happened before IPL and then I decided not to play for Bengal anymore. It hurts if someone makes lewd comments on you after playing for Bengal for so long. I was personally hurt and so I decided to change my state. I have spoken to many states, but nothing has been finalized yet.”
Let us inform that Saha was instrumental in making Hardik Pandya-led Gujarat Titans champions in IPL 2022 in the very first season. Saha scored 317 runs in 11 matches for Titans with the help of three fifties. He got an opportunity to play as an opener after Matthew Wade failed and he grabbed the opportunity with both hands.
