This 72 feet long and 40 feet wide hand-made carpet will definitely prove to be a milestone in the history of Kashmir’s carpet business. It is said about the art of Kashmiri carpet that this art is 1500 years old. Sultan Badshah of Kashmir had invited carpet artisans from Greece to Kashmir. After the end of the Badshah’s rule, carpet art almost became extinct. After this, Mughal emperor Jahangir made efforts to develop carpet art once again.
In that period, this art played an important role in connecting people with employment. With time, hand made carpets by Kashmiri artisans became famous in the world.
