Reddy had recently met Union Home Minister Amit Shah in Delhi. However, he supported the Congress candidate in the recent Rajya Sabha elections.
Reddy was largely inactive politically for almost 12 years till the assembly elections last year after he was arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for his alleged role in the mining scam. During this time, before the 2018 assembly elections, he had campaigned for his close friend and former minister B Sriramulu in Molakalmuru assembly constituency.
Before the 2018 assembly elections, the then BJP national president Amit Shah, while talking to journalists, had said that ‘BJP has nothing to do with Janardhana Reddy.’ (with language input)
