Ten services were affected on three corridors for about two-and-a-half to three hours on Thursday due to a technical glitch in the signal system of the Metro in Delhi-NCR. Officials of the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) said that signal problems were reported from these lines with Bombardier based signaling system. Due to this, the passengers had to face a lot of difficulty in reaching the destination and the students to the examination centers. The three corridors where these problems occurred are the purple, green and pink lines. Not only this, due to the unsuccessful attempt of suicide of a passenger, the Blue Line was also affected for a while.
Let us tell you that the metro, which is called the heart of Delhi, became a victim of the anger of the passengers on Thursday. The problem, which occurred between the peak hours of the morning (8 to 11), affected the movement of thousands of passengers. There were long queues of passengers outside the station. The passengers who somehow reached the platform were also trapped inside. On the other hand, the exam time of the students was passing. There was no way for the train to arrive. The anger of the people was increasing due to the heat and Saber was answering.
Cab and auto drivers asked for arbitrary amount
After the problem of the train was not correct, people started coming out and adopting the attitude of private cab companies. Provided that people there were forced to pay the amount demanded by the auto or cab drivers. People were calling auto and cab drivers one after the other. If a call was coming from someone’s office, someone was taking a photo as a proof and sending it to his friends.
Expressing her anger, Muskan, a student trapped at the Central Secretariat Metro Station, said that there was an examination in Jamia from 10 in the morning and due to the problem of the metro, she booked an auto from a private company but that too did not come for long. When she left for the examination center after a tussle for about half an hour, the entire crowd, angry with the train, was blocking the roads with traffic. The student told that due to this she reached the examination center half an hour late and her examination could not be completed on time.
Another passenger, Satish, said that suddenly at 8:05 in the morning, the pink line metro came to a standstill. No one could understand anything. Sorry for the standoff was reported only from Metro officials side. Half an hour’s journey could not be completed even in two and a half hours. The DMRC said it would investigate further and take up the issue with Bombardier to ensure that this does not happen again in future.
In a series of suicide attempts at Delhi Metro Rail stations, a 52-year-old man tried to commit suicide by jumping on the tracks on Thursday morning but was saved due to the intelligence of the metro driver. Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) The man on standby and other staff posted at metro stations immediately rescued the man and handed over the Iraza Garden Police for further investigation. Preliminary investigation revealed that he had taken this step due to family reasons.
Signal disturbances lost contact with central control room
Train services were affected on Line-5 (Green Line ie Inderlok Kirtinagar to Brigadier Hoshiar Singh), Line-6 (Violet Line ie Kashmere Gate to Raja Nahar Singh), Line-7 (Pink Line ie Majlis Park-Shiv Vihar). Due to internal signaling problem (track circuit drop not being able to capture train id) trains movement with restricted speed on manual i.e. conventional signaling mode took place with complete safety.
