A case of quarrel between husband and wife has surprised even the Supreme Court. In this case, the husband and wife have filed 60 cases against each other. These cases have seen the door from the lower court to the High Court and now the Supreme Court within 41 years. After the intervention of the court, both the parties have now agreed to take the matter to arbitration.
Seeing such a flood of cases, Chief Justice NV Raman remarked that some people enjoy fighting. They always want to be in court. If they don’t see the face of the court, they can’t sleep. After the intervention of the court, both the parties have now agreed to take the matter to arbitration.
It has been 41 years since Justice Raman made this scathing remark about the couple’s quarrels. They have been living separately for the last 11 years. The woman has accused her father-in-law of sexual abuse. Justice Hima Kohli, who was on the bench, was also shocked to see that the couple has visited the courts so many times. He said that in this case the talent of the lawyers would also have to be praised.
During the hearing in the Supreme Court, the father-in-law’s lawyer said that both the lower court and the high court have agreed that the relationship between husband and wife is not normal. Ever since the daughter-in-law has made allegations of exploitation on the father-in-law, it is not possible for her to live in her in-laws’ house. In such a situation, if the woman wants, she can get her a house in the area itself. The Supreme Court asked the woman’s lawyer whether they wanted to settle the matter in totality or not. On this, it was said on behalf of the woman that she is ready to take the matter to mediation, but the ongoing hearing in the High Court should not be stopped.
To this the bench said that it is not possible. Looks like you are very much willing to fight. But you cannot do both things at the same time. The process of arbitration has a time limit. On the persuasion of the Supreme Court, both the parties agreed to put the matter in arbitration. The court, while sending the matter to the Arbitration Center of the Delhi High Court, said that the matter should be heard expeditiously and submit the status report within six weeks.
