On the border of Dantewada-Sukma district of Chhattisgarh, the soldiers who came out in the anti-Naxal operation had an encounter with the Naxalites. The soldiers also took the front and gave a befitting reply. Seeing the loss of the soldiers, the Naxalites ran away taking advantage of the forest. On searching, the bodies of two women Naxalites have been found, in which one Pedaras has been in the form of LOS commander and member of DVC security team. The killed Naxalites have been involved in many incidents.
SP Siddharth Tiwari said that a large number of Maoists had gathered in the forests of Jiakortha, Gorli, Mutheli and Danikortha areas of Katekalyan police station. Joint teams of Dantewada DRG, Sukma DRG, CRPF 230th Battalion and Chhattisgarh Armed Force were dispatched to the spot on Tuesday morning. Around 11.30 pm, the jawan had reached the forest between village Gorli and Mutheli that the Maoists who were ambushed started firing. The soldiers also took the front and gave a befitting reply. Seeing the soldiers getting heavy, the Naxalites fled taking advantage of the forest.
Jawan still present on the spot, search continues
SP Siddharth Tiwari said that after the encounter, the bodies of two women Naxalites have been recovered after the security forces searched the Gorli-Mutheli forest. The women Maoists have been identified as Pedaras LOS Commander Manjula Punem and DVC Security Team member Muchaki Gangi. Two 12 bore rifles, one country-made weapon, explosives and camping material of Naxalites have also been recovered from the spot. There are also reports of some Naxalites getting injured in the encounter. The search is being done in the area by the jawans.
