Ranchi. With the results of the presidential election, the Congress is plagued by new apprehensions. He now fears BJP’s ‘Operation Lotus’ in Jharkhand. The way in which its MLAs in the state cross-voted in favor of Draupadi Murmu, deferring the decision of the Congress leadership, the Congress leaders have been put to sleep. From above, the attitude of CM and ally Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) leader Hemant Soren is also troubling him. JMM and Congress are partners in power in Jharkhand. First let’s talk about cross-voting and its statistics in the Congress camp in the presidential election.
There are total 81 MLAs in Jharkhand Legislative Assembly. Of these, the JMM has 30 members. BJP has 26 MLAs. At the same time, there are 18 members of Congress. In the presidential election, a BJP MLA did not vote due to illness. One MLA’s vote was not correct and got invalid. Despite this, Draupadi Murmu got 70 votes. At the same time, Yashwant Sinha got only 9 votes. JMM had already declared support for Murmu. That is, 9 Congress MLAs did cross voting. Congress sources consider this a matter of grave concern. The special thing is that 7 Congress MLAs have come from tribal dominated areas.
Now if we talk about JMM, then CM Hemant Soren had shown the Congress a ruckus in the Rajya Sabha elections held recently. Soren had not given a seat in the state to the Congress and had fielded a candidate of his own party. Soren took this step after meeting Congress President Sonia Gandhi in Delhi. In such a situation, now the doubts of the Congress have increased due to the slip of the MLAs from their own court in the presidential election. Although the Congress leaders are not giving any statement about this, but according to sources, the party is definitely watching the arithmetic of politics.
