Bangalore. Karnataka Health and Family Welfare Minister K. Sudhakar said on Monday that the fourth wave of COVID in the country has been predicted in the month of August.
Responding to a question by BJP MLC Shashil Namoshi during Zero Hour, he said wearing of masks would be made mandatory in indoor facilities.
A decision in this regard will be taken after meeting with Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai.
He said that the new sub-variant BA2 of the corona virus first appeared in the Philippines. Later it spread to 40 countries.
The agency that predicted the third wave has again predicted the arrival of the fourth wave. The agency said that the fourth wave is likely to hit the country by the month of August.
The minister said that people need not panic even when the fourth wave arrives, as the vaccination campaign has been effective in the state.
He further said that 10.25 crore vaccination doses have been given so far in the state.
“Booster doses have been given. Also, parents are convinced to vaccinate children above 12 years of age,” he said.
Vaccination prevents the spread of covid. However, people should follow the precautions.
“We have arranged 55,256 oxygenated beds. Oxygen production capacity has been increased from 300 MT to 1,270 MT,” he said.
A total of 265 laboratories have been set up and testing capacity has been increased by 2.5 lakh per day. He added that with over three years of experience, the doctors are well equipped to provide the treatment.”
