New Delhi . The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has said that severe heat wave conditions are very likely to occur at isolated places over Rajasthan during April 17-19 and in Punjab, Haryana-Chandigarh-Delhi on April 17-18. Heat wave conditions likely to occur at isolated places over the same areas till April 19; in Himachal Pradesh till April 18; on Jammu Division during 16-18 April; Warm air very likely over Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh during April 17-19 and over Saurashtra-Kutch in Bihar and Gujarat on Saturday.
Similar relief may be given to the North-West India region, which was relieved from a severe heat wave till last week due to a Western Disturbance – the maximum temperature may decrease by 1-2 degree Celsius as compared to 42-43. After 19 April as predicted by IMD on Friday a new WD will affect NW India from that day onwards.
On Friday, Bankura in Gangetic West Bengal recorded the highest maximum temperature of 43.7 degrees Celsius, while heat wave conditions were observed at isolated places over West Rajasthan, Himachal Pradesh, Bihar and Gangetic West Bengal.
The stations where the maximum temperature was recorded at 43 degree Celsius or more are Chandrapur, Maharashtra (43), Daltonganj, Jharkhand (43.6) and Panagarh, Odisha (43.1).
The IMD bulletin said that the maximum temperature is likely to increase gradually by 2-4 degrees Celsius over northwest India during the next four days and there will be no significant change thereafter; No significant change in maximum temperature is likely over Central India during next 24 hours followed by an increase of 2-3 degree Celsius and no significant change in maximum temperature likely over rest of the country.
