Shahid Kapoor and Mrunal Thakur starrer ‘Jersey’ was recently released at the box office after being postponed for a long time. However, despite taking so many precautions, the film doesn’t seem to be doing anything special at the box office. Trade analyst Taran Adarsh has described this film as a very slow and drawn out film by giving only two and a half star rating. At the same time, the film has not got any special bang at the box office.
‘Jersey’ has a slow start at the box office
On one hand, while South films are opening in theaters with Rs 50 crores, Shahid Kapoor’s film ‘Jersey’ has done business of only Rs 5 crores on the opening day. The release date of the film was changed at the last minute as the makers were shying away from releasing it along with South films like KGF 2 and BEAST. However, despite this, this film seems to be proving to be false in theatres.
#OneWordReview,#jersey: AVERAGE.
Rating: ️⭐️½#jersey has an interesting premise + brilliant performance by #ShahidKapoorbut, when viewed in totality, works only in patches… Slow pacing, overstretched narrative, too much cricket [second hour] are deterrents. #JerseyReview pic.twitter.com/yT35HbWxNH— taran adarsh (@taran_adarsh) April 22, 2022
The film has already taken out its cost
A plus point with the box office collection of Shahid Kapoor’s film Jersey has been that the film has already recovered its costs by selling satellite, digital and music rights. In such a situation, even if the film does not play in theatres, then the producers will not suffer much. Let us tell you that ‘Jersey’ was a English remake of a blockbuster film from South, which most people had already seen.
Business boom is necessary on Saturday-Sunday
While new stories and new types of experiments are becoming less and less in Bollywood, South films are blasting blockbuster one after the other. Whether SS Be it Rajamouli’s RRR or Yash’s KGF-2, Allu Arjun’s Pushpa or Prabhas’s Bahubali, South films are dominating the box office these days. It has to be seen whether there is a jump in the business of Jersey on Saturday and Sunday.
