The International Hockey Federation (FIH), also in line with the global sporting fraternity, on Tuesday decided to bar Russia from participating in the upcoming FIH Women’s Junior World Cup.
Russia’s attack on Ukraine has drawn strong condemnation around the world and is being boycotted by sporting bodies around the world at the call of the International Olympic Committee (IOC).
The FIH Junior Women’s World Cup will be held in Potchefstrum, South Africa from April 1 to 12.
Earlier, FIFA and UEFA have also taken big action. FIFA has kicked Russia out of the 2022 World Cup. UEFA has also banned Russian football clubs until further orders.
On the other hand, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) made a big announcement regarding the participation of players of Russia and Belarus in global competitions in view of the current situation. The IOC Executive Board has recommended not allowing the participation of Russian and Belarusian athletes and officials.
