Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday launched a scathing attack on West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee for her opposition to the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), claiming that neither she nor the Congress can dare to touch the CAA. Addressing a rally at Karandighi in Raiganj constituency, Shah launched a scathing attack on the Trinamool Congress-led West Bengal government over corruption issues, including the school recruitment scam, and asserted that only the BJP can stop TMC’s corruption and corruption in the state. Money can destroy culture. Shah said the BJP has set a target of winning 35 Lok Sabha seats from West Bengal and if “it achieves the target, the Trinamool goons will be hanged upside down and made straight.”
Shah told why CM Mamata is opposing CAA
On Congress leaders’ comment on repeal of CAA if they come to power, Shah said, “Neither Congress nor Mamata Banerjee can dare to touch CAA.” Why are you protesting against CAA, 2019? They are opposing the law because it will help Hindu refugees get citizenship. She is supporting infiltration in Bengal but opposes giving citizenship to Hindu refugees.
Bengal CM had claimed to cancel CAA
Banerjee had recently claimed that if the opposition alliance INDI, of which Trinamool is also a part, comes to power at the national level, it would repeal the CAA by bringing a new law in Parliament. The Center had implemented CAA last month. The rules related to it were notified four years after this law was passed by Parliament. The law was created to provide fast track citizenship to non-Muslim immigrants from Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan who came to India without documents before December 31, 2014.
‘Jobs sold for lakhs of rupees’
Addressing the rally, Shah said, “The Calcutta High Court delivered a judgment yesterday, canceling thousands of appointments (made through the 2016 teacher recruitment exam). It is a matter of shame that jobs were sold for lakhs of rupees. He has taken bribe of Rs 10 lakh and 15 lakh for the job. This means that if you do not have Rs 15 lakh, how will you get jobs for your brothers and sons?” A division bench of the High Court has ordered the State Level Selection Examination-2016 ( 25,753 appointments made through the recruitment process of SLST) were canceled a day earlier. West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee had called the high court order “illegal” and said her government would challenge the decision in the Supreme Court. (Language)
