The Income Tax Department has taken a big action against Yashwant Jadhav, Shiv Sena leader and chairman of the Standing Committee of BMC. In this, Income Tax has attached 41 properties of Jadhav. This also includes Jadhav’s flat worth Rs 5 crore. This action of the Income Tax Department includes 31 flats in Bilkhadi Chamber Building in Byculla, Hotel Crown Imperial in Byculla and a flat costing Rs 5 crore in Bandra.
It is worth mentioning that Income Tax Department officials suspect that Shiv Sena leader Jadhav has bought all the properties when he was the chairman of the Standing Committee of BMC. Sources say that the seized properties have been taken in the name of Yashwant Jadhav and his family members and relatives.
Earlier, the Income Tax Department had sent notices to Shiv Sena leaders Vilas Mohite and Vineet Jadhav’s close relatives for recording their statements but none of them appeared before the IT. At the same time, the Income Tax Department had raided Jadhav’s house and property a few days ago. After the information gathered in the raid, action has been taken to seize the properties.
Regarding this action, BJP leader Kirit Somaiya wrote in a tweet, “I welcome the action taken by the Income Tax Department against Shiv Sena leader Yashwant Jadhav in Mumbai today for confiscation of Benami property. I am sure ED will take strict action against scamster Yashwant Jadhav.”
The BJP leader alleged that Yashwant Jadhav has assets worth over Rs 1,000 crore. Which we have already informed. He further said that I came to know that there are 11 more properties in the name of his relatives. The Income Tax Department has now started action against all these properties under Benami property.
Significantly, earlier on April 5, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) had attached the assets of Shiv Sena Rajya Sabha MP and party spokesperson Sanjay Raut in connection with the Rs 1,034 crore Patra Chal land scam. In which Alibaug plot and a flat in Dadar were attached.
