People of Hindu-Sikh community, facing troubles during the Taliban rule in Afghanistan, arrived to meet PM Narendra Modi on Saturday. Here these people dressed the PM in Afghan safa and also presented him. It is reported that the PM also met Indian Bansari Lal Arendh of Afghan origin during this period. Arendh was kidnapped last year in Afghanistan itself. He was released after the settlement.
Apart from the Afghan safa, the people of the Sikh community also presented a sword to Prime Minister Modi. The Hindus and Sikhs of Afghanistan thanked the Prime Minister for bringing the CAA after meeting the Prime Minister. Tarendra Singh, a citizen of Afghan origin who came to India in 1989, said “We briefed PM Modi about the situation in Kabul. The equations there are our main problem. We kept wandering here and there for citizenship. That’s why we Prime Minister Modi.” Thank you for bringing CAA. We want to get citizenship in one go.”
In this meeting, PM Modi was also presented with religious things related to the Sikh community, which the Prime Minister readily accepted. Nidan Singh Sachdev, who came last year from Kabul, Afghanistan, said, “Last year the Taliban kidnapped me from the gurdwara. They thought me to be of Indian origin and wanted to convert me. I thanked Prime Minister Modi and Happy with the help we got from the Indian government. All we need is housing and citizenship.”
Prime Minister Narendra Modi met members of the Sikh-Hindu delegation from Afghanistan on Saturday morning at 7 Lok Kalyan Marg, according to the Prime Minister’s Office. He felicitated the Prime Minister and thanked him for safely bringing Sikhs and Hindus from Afghanistan to India. The PMO said that the PM welcomed the delegation and said that they are not guests but are in their homes. India is their home. He talked about the enormous difficulties they were facing in Afghanistan and the help provided by the government to bring them to India safely.
According to the PMO, he also talked about the importance of the Citizenship Amendment Act and its benefits for the community. He assured them of continuous support to solve all the issues and difficulties faced by them in future also. The PM talked about the importance of the tradition of honoring the Guru Granth Sahib, for which special arrangements were made to bring back the form of the Guru Granth Sahib from Afghanistan. He talked about the immense love he had received from Afghans over the years and recalled his visit to Kabul.
