PM Modi will lay the foundation stone of a 300 MW power plant through video conferencing on Friday.
This plan has been implemented by NTPC in Rajasthan, the purpose of which is to benefit the people of Telangana.
New Delhi. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will dedicate NTPC’s 300 MW Nokhara solar project to the nation on Friday. NTPC Limited issued an official statement on Thursday saying that the project, spread over 1,550 acres in Bikaner district of Rajasthan, will be implemented under NTPC Green Energy Scheme (Phase-2) with an investment of Rs 1,803 crore to ensure green energy to the state of Telangana. The statement said, “Prime Minister Modi will dedicate to the nation the 300 MW Nokhara Solar Project of NTPC Green Energy Limited through video conferencing on February 16, 2024.” Once commissioned, this project is expected to generate 73 crore units of green electricity every year. NTPC said the project will not only light more than 1.3 lakh homes, but will also help prevent six lakh tonnes of carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions every year. Overall, this project will reduce carbon emissions by 15 million tonnes over a period of 25 years.

Plant set up under Make-in-India
“Under the Make-in-India programme, more than 13 lakh solar PV modules have been installed in this project, strengthening the government’s resolve for a self-reliant India,” the statement said. NGEL is a wholly owned subsidiary of NTPC. It has an operational green capacity of more than 3.4 GW and 26 GW is in process, with 7 GW nearing operational completion.
NTPC Limited, under the Ministry of Energy, is India’s largest integrated power utility. Its installed capacity is 74 GW and it contributes 25 percent to the total power generation of the country.
