Indian men’s team batsman Shreyas Iyer, women’s team captain Mithali Raj and star all-rounder Deepti Sharma have been shortlisted by the ICC for the ‘Player of the Month’ award for the month of February. In the men’s section, apart from Iyer, American batsman Vritya Aravind and Nepal’s Deepender Singh Ari have also been selected. At the same time, in the women’s section, along with Mithali and Deepti, New Zealand’s all-rounder Amelia Kerr is also named.
Iyer has given a stellar performance in the last month. He led Team India to victory in the limited overs series. Iyer scored 80 runs in the last match of the three-match series against West Indies. After this, 25 runs in 16 balls were scored in the last T20 match. With Suryakumar Yadav’s injury and Virat Kohli resting, Iyer got a chance to play at number three in the series against Sri Lanka.
Iyer performed tremendously in all three matches of the T20 series against Sri Lanka. He scored unbeaten half-centuries in all three matches. Iyer had scored 204 runs at a strike rate of 174.35 during this period. He was adjudged the Player of the Series for his brilliant batting. On the other hand, when it comes to women’s cricket, Mithali scored 232 runs against New Zealand at an average of 77.33 and a strike rate of 82.56. He scored three half-centuries.
In the last ODI, Mithali scored an unbeaten 54 runs to give victory to the team. All-rounder Deepti Sharma played well with both the ball and the bat. He took the maximum 10 wickets in the ODI series. He scored 116 runs in five matches with the bat. He took four wickets in the second match of the series. At the same time, 69 runs were scored in the third ODI.
