Protests erupted in many cities of India after Friday prayers over the controversial statement made by former BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma on Prophet Mohammad. Violent demonstrations took place in many places including Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand, Delhi, Maharashtra, West Bengal. In many areas, protesters pelted stones and torched vehicles. Along with this, there was a demand to arrest Nupur Sharma immediately. After which, during a TV debate, political analyst Sushil Pandit said that there is no punishment for Jihad in this country.
When the anchor asked how everyone’s feelings are getting hurt at the same time at 1 pm? In response to this question, Sushil Pandit said that is there any punishment for Jihad in this country? What is the punishment for threatening to kill? He added, “When there is no punishment for Jihad in this country, there is no punishment for openly threatening to beheaded. Then we and you get the punishment that we come and see it every now and then. Watch this sight and see the loss of government property, life and property.”
No provision for punishment: Sushil Pandit further said, “In this country till date the people who have been expelled from Kashmir have not got justice, so leave the matter of punishment. When there is no provision for punishment here, we will continue to get punishment.” He said that we will continue to get punishment for not giving punishment. During this, Majid Hydari said that the Lakshman Rekha had been crossed. After which Sushil Pandit showed the mirror to Majid Hydari on the slogans raised after the Friday prayers.
This pressure-making mentality: Sushil Pandit said, “Saying one thing is crossing the Lakshman Rekha and killing people, is not crossing the Lakshman Rekha to kill?” He continued, “If you have any fantasies in your mind, will you kill for it? Will come out on the streets, pelt stones and burn houses.” Sushil Pandit further said, “This is a mentality to create pressure, it is a mentality to get our point across through violence. We are paying the price for succumbing to that mindset and paying the ransom.”
During this, Professor Sangeet Ragi said that if all the Hindus of this country come forward and say that so many of our temples have been demolished, we do not believe, we do not believe in the judicial process, then what will happen to this country? He added, “The Muslim of this country is happy that Qatar told you this, Kuwait told you that. Hey, what is the status of these countries in front of us? If there was no oil, they would have been living a hellish life.”
