Mumbai, (IANS)| Actress Sanya Malhotra says she is innately attracted to light-hearted romantic comedies and that is probably the biggest reason for her to star in the film “Meenakshi Sundareshwar”. Sanya Malhotra along with co-star Abhimanyu Dassani, film producer Vivek Soni and the entire Netflix and Dharmatic creative team at the trailer launch of ‘Meenakshi Sundareshwar’ in Mumbai.
Talking about her reasons for taking up ‘Meenakshi Sundareswarar’, Sanya said that I chose it because of the romantic bit of the script. These days I am systematically attracted to light-hearted romantic comedies, so that was the main reason I was drawn to the character and the script. For me, it was love at first sight with Meenakshi’s character. I also wanted to work with Dharma Productions, that was my dream.
Sanya will be seen playing the role of a South Indian girl from Madurai. So when asked about playing the girl from Madurai on-screen despite being a Punjabi, she said that the role is tough. See, every character has its own journey, as an actor you have to do your homework before stepping in front of the camera. But I think Vivek Soni was really helpful and we did some readings before going on the sets which really helped me get to know my character very well. The script was very well written, so the material I had as an actor was covered. I was confident that I would be able to do this.
The film stars new filmmaker Vivek Soni and co-star Abhimanyu Dassani, who is just one film old, so we asked Sanya if it added any extra responsibility on her shoulders. She said that I do not think about flop hits at all, when I am doing a film or approach for a character. Such things don’t come to my mind. It may happen consciously but it doesn’t show up on the show. It was my dream to become an actor, I am living my dream, and I am happy with it.‘Meenakshi Sundareshwar’ is supported by Karan Johar’s Dharmatic Entertainment. It will stream on Netflix from November 5.
