Toyota Kirloskar Motor has been preparing to introduce new vehicles since the beginning of this year. The company is soon going to launch its first lifestyle pick-up truck Toyota Hilux in the Indian market. According to the information, this truck-like SUV will be launched for sale on January 20. Ahead of the launch, some information related to Hilux has been revealed.
According to the report, the new Toyota Hilux will come in India in a single, four-door pickup body style and bookings are already going on. It is being told that its delivery will start from the month of March. The company is bringing it to the market here through the Complete Knock Down (CKD) route, and it will be assembled at Toyota’s plant in Karnataka. It is also reported that the upcoming lifestyle pick-up truck will be partly shared with the company’s famous model Fortuner.
In this, the company’s 2.8-liter diesel engine is being used, which you also get to see in the Fortuner. This engine generates 204hp power and 420Nm torque. The company can offer it with 6-speed manual and automatic gearbox. The truck will be offered in a total of five colours, out of which two shades (Pearl and Super) will be available in white and other colors will include a metallic version of Emerald Red, Gray and Silver.
The Toyota Hilux is based on the company’s exclusive IMV2 architecture that is based on the Toyota Innova Crysta and the Toyota Fortuner, though it will be larger in size than both the models. With a wheelbase of 3,000 mm and a length of 5,300 mm, the Hilux will give a tough competition to Isuzu in the Indian market. In the global market, it is available with two-door and four-door options, although some changes can be made for the Indian market.
The face of the pick-up truck is very similar to the basic profile of the Fortuner. The Hilux gets a large hexagonal grille, attractive swept-back LED headlamps and a rough and tough bumper. However, its rear end resembles that of most traditional pickup trucks. With the new Hilux, the company will offer a warranty of 3 years or up to 1 lakh km, as offered with other models. Apart from this, customers can also opt for Extended Warranty, which will have the option of 5 years or up to 2.20 lakh kms.
