If you take the help of any third-party app to record the call while talking to someone, then from tomorrow you will not be able to do so. Google has changed its Play Store policy which will be applicable from tomorrow i.e. May 11. One of these changes is to turn off the call recording apps on Android. Due to the introduction of this policy, Truecaller has also confirmed that call recording will no longer be possible with Truecaller.
As per the new policy, apps are no longer allowed to use Accessibility API for call recording on Play Store. However, the new policy changes, previously spotted by Reddit users NLL Apps, only affect third-party call recording apps. The company also clarified the policy in a recent developer webinar.
Google is slowly removing the APIs that enable call recording on several Android versions. The company cites privacy and security as the reason for the move, in addition to the fact that call recording laws differ from country to country.
Free call recording facility will continue in these phones even after May 11
Google’s policy change is limited to third-party call recording apps on the Play Store only. Some smartphone makers including Xiaomi, Samsung, OnePlus and Oppo include a built-in call recorder capability that will continue to work after May 11.
