State Bank of India (SBI) has warned its users against scams. Taking to Twitter, SBI has informed that scammers are persuading users to “click on a phishing link” for KYC which is compromising their online security. The warning came in the form of a retweet, initially CID Assam informed about this fraud.
The investigation department has warned against two mobile numbers of SBI users. SBI customers in Assam seem to be receiving calls mainly from these fish numbers. However, users from other states also need to be aware and should not share their personal details on calls from any unknown number.
In a tweet, CID Assam said SBI customers are getting calls from two numbers – +91-8294710946 and +91-7362951973, asking them to click on phishing links for KYC updates. Huh. All SBI customers are requested not to click on any such phishing/suspicious links, the tweet said.
What is Phishing?
If you are wondering how phishing works, the idea is mainly to send others clicking on the phishing link. Cybercriminals often posing as legitimate institutions, usually via email, to obtain sensitive information from targeted individuals. In this current SBI scams, scammers may be pretending to be bank officials and persuading people to click on fish links for KYC.
