Samsung is once again going back to its good days. The South Korean company has once again come to number 1 in the Indian smartphone market. Xiaomi has dominated the Indian smartphone market since 2017. Although Samsung overtook Xiaomi in the third quarter of 2020, Chinese manufacturer Xiaomi was once again at No. 1 in 2021. Now a new report by Counterpoint Research has revealed that Samsung has shocked Xiaomi and has become the market leader in the overall smartphone market.
According to market research, Samsung will account for 22 per cent of the shipments in India and 27 per cent of the market share in 2022. Samsung has confirmed an increase of 9 percent over last year. According to Neil Shah, Vice President, Counterpoint Research, Samsung’s continuous launch in the 5G enabled smartphone portfolio with the M, F and A series and enhanced features in the Galaxy S22 and the foldable flagship series have helped Samsung become the market leader again.
Samsung is continuously launching smartphones in its Galaxy M, F and A series in different price categories. The company currently has about 15 smartphones in the country that come with 5G connectivity in less than 20 thousand. Currently, the Galaxy F23 5G is Samsung’s cheapest 5G phone in the country with prices starting at Rs 13,999. Along with this, the Galaxy S22 series and Galaxy Foldable phones have also performed well in the Indian market.
Let us tell you that three years ago, Samsung lost the number 1 position in the premium smartphone market. Counterpoint Research has revealed that the Samsung Galaxy S22 series of phones is what enabled the South Korean company to overtake Apple to become the market leader in the premium smartphone market.
In March 2022, Galaxy S22 Ultra captured 74 percent market share in the premium market. With the sale of the S22 Ultra, the company was able to capture 81 per cent market share in the Rs 1 lakh category. At the same time, Samsung’s total market share in the segment with more than 30 thousand is 38 percent.
