The cyclonic storm ‘Asani’, which formed due to low pressure in the Bay of Bengal, was about to cross the coasts of Andhra and Odisha on Tuesday, but the Meteorological Department says that the storm has changed its course. Now the Meteorological Department has issued an alert in the coastal areas of Andhra Pradesh. The Meteorological Department says that this storm can cause more destruction between Kakinada and Visakhapatnam.
Asani in Sinhala means angry. The storm is now moving towards the northwest. For the past one day, the coastal areas of Odisha and Andhra Pradesh are witnessing strong wind and rain. Trees were uprooted at many places in Andhra. The Meteorological Department says that the cyclone is slowly turning north-northwest.
The Meteorological Department says that this cyclonic storm will weaken in the next 36 hours. By the morning of May 12, its effect will be very less, but before that an alert of heavy rain has been issued in the coastal areas. Strong winds are also possible along the coasts of Andhra Pradesh and Odisha.
