Two laborers each died in Lucknow and Rae Bareli during the cleaning of sewer lines. In Lucknow’s Sahadatganj, 3 laborers landed in the sewer line for cleaning where two died of suffocation while the third one has been admitted to a nearby trauma center in critical condition. At the same time, two laborers died while cleaning the sewer line constructed under the AMRUT scheme on Manika Road in Rae Bareli.
According to the information, the sanitation workers had entered the sewer line without equipment in Sahadatganj, Lucknow, due to which this accident happened. After the death of the cleaning workers, there is chaos in their house. After the incident, the Mayor expressed deep sorrow and ordered immediate action against the responsible employees/officers.
Earlier, two laborers died while cleaning the sewer line on Manika Road in Rae Bareli. A government spokesperson in Lucknow said that Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed grief over the death of the laborers and expressed condolences to the bereaved families. The spokesman said that the Chief Minister directed the officers to provide all possible help.
Police said that as soon as the information about the accident was received, the administrative staff including District Magistrate Vaibhav Srivastava reached the spot and rescue operation was started. After this both the personnel were evicted. Police said they were immediately rushed to the district hospital, but doctors declared both brought dead. Police said that the process of conducting post-mortem is on. According to Nagar Kotwali in-charge Raghavan Singh, those killed have been identified as Jogesh and Sanju Nagar.
