The Drug Controller General of India (DCGI) has approved the corona vaccine of Covacin for 2 to 18 years in the country. For this, the government will soon issue guidelines regarding the vaccine. Children will be given two doses of Covaxin.
Let us tell you that Bharat Biotech and ICMR have jointly developed Covexin. In clinical trials against the corona virus, Covaxin was shown to be about 78 percent effective. Earlier, Zydus Cadila’s corona vaccine ZyCoV-D was approved by DCGI for ’emergency use’. It can accommodate children up to 12 years old, teenagers and adults. This was the world’s first DNA-based vaccine made in India. Currently, the vaccines for Covishield, Covacin and Sputnik-V are only given to people over the age of 18 in the country. It is given in two doses. In contrast there are three doses of Zykov-D.
