Government started work on revising the National List of Essential Medicines in 2013, implemented in 2014
The Central Government has revised the National List of Essential Medicines and reduced the prices of six commonly used medicines. According to the information, the prices of medicines used in the treatment of cancer, diabetes as well as antibacterial, antiretroviral as well as TB and corona have been reduced.
According to the information experts working on the National List of Essential Medicines have removed 18 medicines from the list. The Indian Council of Medical Research has been working for a long time to control the prices of medicines. Commonly used drugs include diabetes drugs, teneleptin, TB drug, drug used in the treatment of corona, ivermectin and rotavirus vaccine.
The government started work on revising the National List of Essential Medicines in 2013 and implemented it in 2014. The government is going to do away with the existing system of putting all essential medicines under automatic price control. The National Committee on Medicine is working to make available the list of essential medicines in sufficient quantity.
