The National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) has made a new claim in the case of stone pelting and violence on the procession on Hanuman Jayanti in Jahangipuri, Delhi. The head of the commission tweeted that children and minors were used in this violence. He said that necessary action is being taken in this regard.
Children’s body chief Priyank Kanungo tweeted on Sunday, “NCPCR has taken cognizance of minors and children being used in yesterday’s Delhi riots. We are taking necessary action in this matter. ,
Kanungo’s tweet comes after several videos surfaced on social media in which children were shown participating in the violence on Saturday. In a video, children and minors are also seen pelting stones at those involved in the procession.
Total 14 arrests so far
Delhi Police has so far arrested a total of 14 accused in the Jahangipuri violence, out of which Mohammad Ansar is being told as one of the conspirators, while another accused Aslam is accused of firing with his pistol. All those arrested are local residents and their age is 21-35 years. Nine people including nine policemen and a local were injured in the violence. Police have formed 10 teams to investigate the incident.

According to the information received, the violence took place at around 5.30 pm on Saturday when the Hanuman Jayanti procession was passing through Jahangirpuri area. According to locals, clashes took place mainly through three blocks in Jahangirpuri, with residents of Hindu-dominated G and H blocks encountering their Muslim counterparts from C block.
On the other hand, after the incident, Delhi Police has tightened security in the area, along with companies of Rapid Action Force (RAF) have also been deployed. No fresh clash information so far.
