China: ‘Tibet Airlines’ plane lands on runway, caught fire; 25 people injured

Several people were injured when a Tibet Airlines plane caught fire as it took off from the runway in China’s southwest city of Chongqing on Thursday. State-run Xinhua news agency reported that 113 passengers and nine crew members were on board the plane bound for Tibet. Everyone has been evacuated from the aircraft and the injured have been admitted to the hospital for treatment.

Airport sources said at least 25 people were injured in the accident. The exact number of casualties is not yet known, according to the state-run China Global Television Network (CGTN) news.

A video released by China Central Television (CCTV) showed flames and black smoke billowing from the front of a Tibet Airlines plane at Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport, Hong Kong’s South China Morning Post reported. is giving. People are seen getting out of the plane through the back door in chaos.

CCTV said the fire has been brought under control and the runway is currently closed. The plane was about to leave for Nyingchi in Tibet when it caught fire. The incident is being investigated. This is the second plane to crash in China in recent weeks. The Boeing 737 plane crashed on March 12, killing all 132 people on board.
